Good afternoon! I'm so sorry for the delay in updating the Kindergarten page, we have been super busy learning many new things! We have been working very hard to learn our sight words and sound out new words as well to read them in sentences! 1/2 of our class have already passed the first list of sight words and are well on thier way to finishing the 2nd set. I will continue to chec kthe students weekly until they have all passed the first set and will start assessing those students who have been working on the 2nd set of words beginning when we return from Spring Break (starting Monday, March 23). Just a quick reminder, the 3rd quarter ends on Friday, March 13th. The 4th quarter will begin when we return from Spring Break on monday, March 23. Friday, March 13th is also the deadline for reading and testing on AR books for the 3rd quarter. Just a reminder, each child is asked to read and test over 5 AR books for both the 3rd and 4th quarter. Those who have met thier 3rd quarter goal have been rewarded with Smarities (given to them by myself) and will be rewarded by the library for meeting thier goal as well. The Kindergartner's Accelerated Reading goals will stay the same for the 4th quarter - read and test over 5 AR books by the end of the quarter. Keep up the hard work, Beginning Readers! I have received an email from the Six Flags Read to Succeed program. If you are planning on registering your son/daughter for this oprogram, and to earn a free pass to Six Flags for your son/daughter, please do so soon. If you find out you are having trouble registering your son/daughter, please send their reading log to school in thier blue take home folder and Ican try to register them for you. At one point, the program was not allowing some parents to log in and register so they sent the link to the teachers to try. It seems to be fully working on the teacher side of the program, but still spotty on the parent side. So, if you are having trouble registering your son/daughter, please let me know and I can take care of that for you :). The information/instructions to register your son/daughter is as follows: Parents can register for Read to Succeed using the details below:
Finally, we are working very hard to make sure our classroom stays "germ free" until the end of the school year. We all know the Kindergarten class has had it's fair share of germs this winter! In accordance with this, I am making sure each table has it's own box of tissues (and replacing as they become empty) sending home all chapsticks which are frequently used and by now are full of germs ;) and teachingthe children to cough and sneeze into their elbows. I am also frequently having the children wash thier hands, especially after digging in thier noses and other unmentionable places, as well as after coughing, sneezing, and using tissues. We have also increased our use of hand sanitizer and wiping down of tables and chairs for the same purposes. AlSo, in the same aspect, if your child is sick, please keep him/her home until he/she has been symptom free for 24 hours as well as fever free for 24 hours, the key thing to remember with being symptom free and fever free, is that your child is back to normal without having to take medicine (tylenol, motrin, ibuprophen, etc) for 24 hours. Once they have surpassed that "24 hour mark" then they should be germ free as well and can return to school (after being disinfected from head to toe of course, :) lol!). In hopes to keep everyone healthy for the remainder of this school year, please help out by washing coats, book bags, lunch boxes as well as sanitizing library books and folders while we are off school next week for Spring Break. JUST AS FEW REMINDERS: 1. March Book Orders are due Friday, march 13th if you would like to still place an order. 2. Six Flags registration: give yourself enough time to complete the online submission, review and approval process before the
deadline of April 17, 2020. 3. Mission Carnival in the gym - Friday, March 13th from 12:35-1:20pm 4. NO SCHOOL - SPRING BREAK Monday, March 16 - Friday, March 20. School will resume on Monday, March 23 |
