It is so hard to believe that we are already half way through October almost! Yet, the Kindergartners continue to amaze me on a daily basis! They are each learning so much and are wel on thier way to learn how to read. We have had fun studying about apples, and even made our very own applesauce a couple of Fridays ago. The kids had a blast helping me make the applesauce with the apple they brought to school that week (see photos below)! We will begin our study on Pumpkins for the month of October and end the month with a pumpkin prayer service in our class. As the 1st quarter of the school year comes to a close this Friday, October 14th, each student has worked very hard to pass 4 out of 5 AR tests thus far, and I know they will all pass the 5th test this week with flying colors! They had a blast learning about each of the 26 letters and we are currently learning how to correctly write each of those letters in our Reading series. This will help us start to build on our "learning how to read" skills and most, if not all of the students will be reading by Christmas time. I will start sending home sight word flash cards at Parent/Teacher conferences which will also help strengthen these skills. Reminder: Kindergarten students will not recieve a report card at the end of the first quarter. The first quarter ends on Friday October 14, 2016. Report cards for grades 1-8 will be sent home on Friday, October 21, 2016. Please consider scheduling a Parent/Teacher conference so we can discuss your child's progress thus far and any areas he/she may need to spend some extra time at home practicing to improve. I will also have notes for you as far as things we will be doing throughout the rest of the year and helpful tools for you to use with your child to learn how to read as well as assist and strengthen his/her classroom learning and readiness for completion of the Kindergarten Curriculum. |
