The latest in Kindergarten...

The kindergartners are continuing to master learning their Sight Words!  Sight words are words that you can read by recognition because they do not follow a pattern to allow them to be sounded out one letter at time.  Most students have passed their first sight word assessment and are well on their way to passing the second one.  Learning these sight words will make them stronger readers and prepares them for the fast paced learning of First Grade.

In Math, we have been spending our time learning how to count money and tell time on both an analog and digital clock.  These are both skills the students picked up very easily and quickly.  I'm super impressed with how focused they have become lately and interested in learning new concepts in order to be to be ready for First Grade.

Reminder, there is no school next Thursday and Friday as well as the following Monday for Holy Week/Easter Break.  We will talk in length this coming week as to why it is a somber season followed by such celebration.

When we return from Easter Break, we will begin wrapping up our year in Kindergarten and moving through the last of our curriculum pretty quickly.  We will also begin planning for our Final Mass Celebration.  The final day for kindergarten is scheduled for Wednesday, May 15, 2019.  The Kindergartners will be participating in the Mass on this day and will receive their end of the year/completion of Kindergarten certificate and a medal.  This Mass will be followed by a small reception to say congratulations and celebrate completing Kindergarten hosted by our Preschool families.  Students will be dismissed from this intimate gathering.  All Kindergartners should be picked up from school no late than 10 am on this day and are dismissed for the summer :)

Lots going on, hold on tight because it will fly by quickly!!
