Hello all! It has been a busy couple of months here in the library!
We are up to 48,382,800 words read as a school! A few have reached 1 million words read and one has hit the 2 million mark!

K-1 has been working hard on values: Friendship, the golden rule, respect, interrupting, tattling, etc.  We also talked about germs and how to help keep ourselves and our friends from passing them around.
These kiddos also made a "Kindness quilt" during kindness week.  They each worked on a piece individually and then saw how even when they are working alone they may be working to make something great with a team so they should do their best.  They turned out fabulous and I will try and get pictures.

2-4 grade has been working each week on a different section of Dewey Decimal each week the past several weeks.  We focus on one topic at a time and are doing something fun to reinforce it.  These kids really like brain teasers! I am hoping that even this brief overview of the library will make recognize where a book may go when out at the public library.  4th grade was even able to try their hand at a scavenger hunt last week and did pretty well with the challenge.

This week we head into Reading month! This week is Read Across America Week and we are celebrating by having a visitor in K-4 grade library times.  A parent from each room will be reading their favorite picture book to each class. It should be a great time!
