Dear Parents,

I want to begin by apologizing for getting this post out so late.  Illness and a busy home schedule both played a part.

Last week we worked on the letter G.  We were able to play some games including Go Fish, Color/Shape Bingo,  and a counting game where we counted dots on a die and added the corresponding number of eyes to our spiders.  We also painted the letter G green, did a STEAM project (science, technology, engineering, art and math) where we made the letter G out of salt and glue and watched how the salt absorbed some vibrant watercolors.   We also worked on cutting skills making some ghost windsocks that are currently hanging from the ceiling, and heard a ghost story (but it wasn't scary - I promise).  We also emphasized that God starts with G by singing our ABC prayer every day for snack.

We ended our unit on the creation story, by creating some self portraits on paper plates in the afternoons.  The kids worked really hard on these and were told to choose the skin tone, eye color, lip color, and hair color that looked most like them.

As we near Halloween, I would like to remind anyone who wants to help with the Halloween party that you must have completed Protecting God's Children to attend the party.  The party is also an excellent chance to earn service credits by sending in the snack.  If you want to do this please contact me so I can pass the word along to Adrianna's mom ( our head room parent).  We will be going up to St. Catherine's Retirement Community that day (around 8:30) to sing a couple of songs for the residents and trick-or-treat.  The kids may wear their costumes to school but must wear play clothes under them and have a costume they can use the toilet in.  Right now I only have permission slips to do this from 10 out of 22 families.  Please send these in as soon as possible.

Have a great rest of the week.
