Dear Parents, We continue to play and work hard in preschool. Last week we focused on the letter Hh. The kids worked on some Halloween projects. We cut orange paper into strips (6 inch straight cuts) to make paper pumpkin sculptures, we mixed red and yellow paint to make orange and paint paper plate pumpkins which some kids decorated as jack-o-lanterns. We made patterns with Halloween colors. We did a science experiment to see how Halloween candy dissolved in various liquids. And of coarse we sang plenty of Halloween songs and read plenty of Halloween books. This week we reviewed the letters A-H and will continue with the letter I next week. Miss Katie, our school counselor, came in to do a kindness curriculum lesson with the kids. Our last lesson was on patience. The kids got to plant bean seeds. We are trying to be patient waiting for them to grow. There will be no lesson this week due to the shortened week. We are looking forward to our Halloween visit to St. Catherine's Retirement community tomorrow. The kids have prepared two songs to sing, and then they will get to trick-or treat. I will be curious to see who has more fun; the residents or the kids. Afterward we will return to our classroom for a quick party before lunch/half-day dismissal. Please be sure the kids are wearing costumes they can use the bathroom in and that they wear play clothes underneath. I hope that all of you have a safe and Happy Halloween and All Saints Day.
