Dear Parents,

I hope that you and your children had a good long weekend.  I really enjoyed my day to connect with God and the staff of ASA St. Rose on our faculty retreat.  I really do feel blessed to be a part of such a welcoming community.

While this past week was short, it was full of good learning.  We worked on the letter E.  In addition to exploring how to write the letter and learning its sounds, we also stamped on the E with eggs, and did a science experiment on water density using an egg.  We predicted if the egg would sink or float in plain and salt water, then we observed what actually happened.  The students recorded their observations.  I emphasized that in science we record what we see unlike in art where we create what we feel.  The students did really well with this.

We also had another practice fire drill.  This time as a whole class.  I feel it is important to do practice drills with preschool before the whole school drills.  This allows them to learn what their bodies need to do without the loud alarm.

The students also made apple shakers last week, and played a song together on them.  They are doing a great job of following the beat to make music together and not just noise apart.

We also learned a little bit about St. Francis this week.  We learned how he inspired not only people, but also had a way with animals.  We talked about how saints are holy men and women who show us how to live holy lives too.

This week we are going to do some fun activities with apples on Friday.  If you would like to donate some apples to the cause, I would really appreciate it.  Please send them in by Thursday, so I know what I need to buy.

Have a great week!

Blessings,
Mrs. Hale
