Well, this week was a very full and productive one.  Our children are becoming more comfortable with our Spanish teacher, and are learning los colores.   I am also emphasizing the Spanish color names in the classroom.
We have continued to talk about the Creation story, and some children painted cloud pictures.

We began talking about fire safety, and the role of fire fighters in the community.  Next we will move on to talking about fire drills so that we are prepared for our first one in the upcoming month.

Your children love music, so I am trying to work on as many skills as I can through music.  We have songs to work on months of the year, days of the week, Spanish color words, body parts, left and right, and animals and their noises.  This week we talked about how music is made of notes and that those notes have pitch (high and low).  The kids had a chance to listen to bells and tell me which one was higher or lower.  Some kids also got a chance to work on beat by playing shaking instruments to  Twinkle Twinkle little star.  I think the class favorite song wright now is the Goldfish song (Lets go swimming) by the Laurie Berkner Band. You can find it on YouTube, but be warned, it will get stuck in your head.

This week we worked on the letter Bb.  The kids are really excited about learning their letters.  They spontaneously began listing words that begin with the /b/ sound at circle time this week.  They also love the clue can.  Anthony did a great job with writing clues about a ball.  Can't wait to see what comes in for Cc next week.

Finally, on Friday we got to meet our 7th grade buddies.  We will be pairing with them throughout the year to do various activities.  It lets the preschoolers get some one on one or even two on one attention and allows our older students to develop leadership skills.  I am very excited to see what we accomplish with this program.

Have a safe and blessed week
