Hello parents,

Well this past week was short, but full of learning.  I added one more thing to circle time: work on our letter of the week.  We will be working on a letter each week in alphabetical order.  We talked about how to form the capital and lowercase Aa, the sounds it makes, read a short rhyming poem about an ant and an antelope, learned the airplane yoga pose, and finally, saw what Mrs. Hale put in the clue can for Aa.  The kids were able to use deductive reasoning and figure it out.  Each child will get a  week to bring the clue can home and prepare it for a letter.  Don't worry, there are instructions in the can and I kept my example from the letter A in there to help you as well.  The kids are excited about their week to get homework!

We also continued exploring Dr. Seuss books this week.  We read The Better Butter Battle and made and ate butter!  Mrs. Hopper also read Horton Hears a Who; which echos the important message, "A person's a person no matter how small".  I couldn't say it better.

We are getting good at playing games too.  This week we explored dominoes so that we can eventually learn how to play.  This is a fun game that lets us match sets of up to 6, great math skills.  We read the creation story from the Bible, and some had an opportunity to make a picture of God's light.  We made the first letters of our names out of playdough.  We also got to explore water beads in the sensory table.  These gel beads feel soft and squishy and the kids had  a lot of fun scooping and pouring them.  Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and socialization.

The kids are also showing growth in their ability to write/trace their names and use scissors.  I am seeing so much growth; I hope you are too.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Hale
