Dear Parent(s), December 1, 2017 Hopefully you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Can't believe how fast these next few weeks are going to fly by. Just a few important dates for you to put on your calendar. December 11th we are going to see the movie "The Star". Your child's permission slip should be coming home early next week. December 12th is the children's Christmas concert. It starts at 7:00, so please have them in the classroom by 6:45. Thanks for your help with this. Below are the following topics we will be covering this week: Religion: This week we will continue to cover the four marks of the church. On, Holy Catholic, and Apostolic. This Tuesday the children will get the opportunity to attend reconciliation. What a wonderful way to prepare for the Season of Advent. Next Wednesday our children will have their turn again to do mass. Spelling: Unit 14 words this week following the pattern of the complex consonants sounds of soft g and soft c. We discussed that typically if a c or g is followed by an e, i, or y it would make the soft sound. Since we are off on Friday for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception the spelling test we be on Monday. Math: This week we will be constructing number lines, adding two digit numbers using algorithms, and using estimation to verify the reasonableness of the calculated results. We will also be drawing line segments to the nearest half inch. English: This week we will be comparing with adjectives, learning what an adverb. The adverbs that we will be learning this week will answer the question how, when or where. Reading: The new story that we will be starting in " Bat Loves the Night" The vocabulary words that go along with this story are twitch, swoop, squeak, echoes, details, slithers, snuggles, and dozes. Some of the skills that go along with this story are words that follow the vcv pattern, and long i spelled i, ie, and igh. This week is filled with a lot of interruptions so the following is a tentative schedule. Hope you all have a great weekend! |
