Dear Parent(s), A letter went home this evening in your child's Friday Folder about the project that is due this coming Friday. If you are able to come around 1:30 we would love to see you. I know the children are getting very excited about presented their persons, and I know many of them have been working very hard. I can't wait to see the final outcome! The following are the topics we will be covering this week: Religion: We will be finishing chapter 11, Our Parish is our Home this week with our open book test on Friday. Next week it is third grades turn to do the mass. The boys will be doing this mass. The children will be readers will get the readings on Monday. English: We are reviewing for our test over Unit 5. The children have been encouraged to bring their books home for days now. The test will be on Thursday. This week will be devoted to preparing the children for this test. Spelling: Unit 21 words follow the r- controlled pattern. ur,or, ear, and ir. Science : We are finishing up our unit on the properties of matter. This week we also discussed the difference between physical and chemical properties. Math: This week we will be learning how to count using Roman Numerals, reviewing the 4's, 3's and 6's multiplication tables. We will also be adding three digit numbers, using ordinal positions, and learning how to write money amounts using fractions on blank checks. Reading: We are completing our story this week by taking our test over Harvest Birds, Monday and Tuesday. The next story we will be reading is a realistic fiction book called, Kamishibai Man. Some of the skills it covers are the vowel diphthongs of ow, and ou. The children will be discussing the setting, plot, and whether the story uses realistic characters and events. The vocabulary words for this story are: familiar, applause, vacant, rickety, blurry, blasted, jerky, and rude. Have a great weekend! |
