Dear Parent(s), A huge shout out to all our parents who were able to come in today to watch the children present their projects! The children will need their customs again on Thursday to show the other primary classes. Hopefully, everyone has a nice long weekend due to our day off on Monday. The following topics will be covered this coming week. Religion: Our ladies will be doing the mass on Wednesday. With the day off on Monday, I felt that might be a better situation. The ladies that are reading have what they will be reading. We will be having an open book religion test on Thursday as well. We completed the review page in class today. The children will be attending Stations of the Cross every Friday in Lent. Math: We will be reading and writing money amounts to $1000, and writing amounts using fractions and decimals. The children will also be working on selecting coins for a given amount. We will also be reviewing subtraction facts of 7, 8, and 9. Please also continue to be reviewing your multiplication cards. English: We just took our unit 5 test Thursday. 14 of our 26 students received a grade of 90% or better. Way To Go Third Graders!!! Their tests were on the Hall of Fame and will be sent home in next Friday's Friday Folders. This week we are covering subject and object pronouns, and which verb should be used when covering that type of pronoun. Spelling: This weeks spelling words follow the r- controlled vowel or, air, ear, are, and eir vowel sounds. The children were told to be very careful because some of these words were also homophones. Reading: We just began our new story which is a realistic fiction called the Kamishibai Man. The vowel patterns this week are the dipthong ow, and ou. We will be discussing cause and effect relationships in this story. Social Studies: We will begin covering the different types of communities. (Rural, Suburban, and Urban) Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and stay healthy! |
