Dear Parent(s), Can't believe we are a week away to being half way through the fourth quarter. Please remind your students if they haven't made their A.R. goals, or at least half way there , they need to start reading more. Remember A.R. is worth 10% of their reading grade this 4th quarter. Parents also remember all field trip permission slips and money to see Cinderella at Trinity High School is due by Tuesday. The following are the topics we are covering this coming week. Religion: We are doing work that covers the Easter Season. The boys are also preparing for their mass on April 25th. They already know what they are suppose to do, and if they are reading, they have those reading already. Spelling: The words this week follow the rule of doubling the consonant before adding the endings ed, and ing. Remember now that we are in the fourth quarter the practice test could count for their real test. Many students were prepared and only had to do the bonus words this past Friday! So proud of them!! English: The children are completing their lesson on how to write a personal letter. This week we will learn how to address an envelope correctly. Math: We are learning about parallel line segments, and identifying the properties of quadrilaterals. We will also be covering making change from a dollar. This week we will also be reading and writing five digit numbers multiplying by 100 and 1000. Reading : We are completing our story this week about Technology Wins the Game. The children will be taking both parts of their test Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday we will start with a new story entitled, Tops and Bottoms. The genre of the story is a trickster tale in which one character in the story tricks another animal. However it also teaches an important moral about life as well. The vocabulary words that will be covered are risky, grunted, profit, crops, plucked, scowled, tugged, and hollered. Social Studies: We will be covering the different types of communities. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. |
