Dear Parent(s),
Welcome to May!!!  This month is packed with a lot of activities, so please remember to pay close attention to Mrs. McKay's newsletters as well.  This week we have our Annual May Crowing on Tuesday and Living Rosary starting at 1:30.  Thursday the whole school is walking to the civic center to see Zoppe Family Circus.  Please pray for great weather!!!! If your child has not returned their permission slip  please get them in.  This field trip does not cost.  Friday the students are off due to our Faculty/ Federation Meeting. The children should also be finding out this week what team they are on and what colors they need to wear for Field Day next Friday.
The following are the topics we will be covering this week:

Religion: This week we will be discussing the sacraments.  We will begin by talking about which of the sacraments are those of initiation.

Math: The children will learn about rotation, reflect, and reflections of a letter.  We will be learning about the different types of angles. ( obtuse, acute, and right angle) They will be using their rulers again to measure line segments using the millimeters.

Spelling: Unit 31 words follow the the plural s, or es ending pattern.

Reading: This weeks story called, Yonder Mountain: A Cherokee Legend. In this story we will learn about the Cherokee belief.  We will carry this into Social Studies discussing the events that occurred during the Cherokee's journey out west. The Trail of Tears.  The vocabulary words for reading this week are examined, peak, fondly, steep, rugged, mist, pausing, pleaded.

English: The children are still working on the stories.  They have spent computer time typing up their stories.  They will be sharing these stories with our preschool friends when they are complete.  Some children are very good story tellers!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
