Dear Parent(s),
Can't believe how fast last week went by.  It's a shame that the weather didn't cooperate for us to attend the circus down at the Civic Center on Friday. This next week on Friday is our Field Day with a noon dismissal.  There will be aftercare for our families who will need it. Please have them bring a lunch. Our seventh graders came in this week on told the children what team and what color their team needs to wear.  The children need to wear their gym shorts with the color of the shirt for their team.  Please have any water bottles marked with their names, and apply sunscreen on your children before coming to school. The following are the topics we will be covering this week:

Religion: We are still working on our unit on the seven sacraments.

Spelling:  We will be taking our spelling test on Monday for those students who did not get a hundred on their practice test.  The words from Unit 32 follow the plural pattern of changing the y to an i and adding es if the letter that comes before the y is a consonant.

Reading:  We are finishing up our story Yonder Mountain and we were talking about how hard it was for the Indian tribes; especially the Cherokee tribe to have to move over 2000 miles and relocate due to the Indian Removal Act of the 1830's.  The skills we will continue working on this week are the contractions n't, 'd, and 've, homophones and homographs, writing using quotation marks, and subject- verb agreement. The children will begin their reading test at the end of the week.

Math: We will be working with our multiplication facts of 6, identifying geometric solids by their faces, vertices, and edges. The children will be multiplying a single digit number and a mult-digit number using the multiplication algorithm. We will also be working on function rules.

English:  This week we will be back in the computer lab finishing up typing our stories.  Some students have their stories complete and will become illustrators to make their stories complete.  The children know that they can also work on these at home as well.

Have a great week end and pray for great weather on Friday for our upcoming Field Day!
