Good Morning Parent(s), Hopefully you had a wonderful weekend! Sorry I didn't make it up here after our meeting to make our post for the week. This will be a full week More will be coming home with the students this week about Grandparents Day next Wednesday! I do know that they will be having the families together though. The children have earned their ten keys and have voted on a P.J. movie for Tuesday this week. I will send a short letter as well today to remind them. I'm sure they have already told you. The following are the topics we will be covering this week: Religion: This week we will be learning how the followers of Jesus stood up for their faith regardless of the situation. They will learn about some of these Saints who were martyrs. They will be having an open book test on Monday or Tuesday of next week. Spelling: This weeks words are review words following the rules we have studied. They will have 16 words this week since it is a review of skills already taught. The words are: bank, drink, left, scared, morning, shadow, something, tooth, cents, large, orange, crackers, friends, crying, smiling. English: This week we will be learning what irregular verbs are, and working with the contractions not. We will be taking a test the week sometime after our Thanksgiving break. A lot of material has been covered in this chapter so it wouldn't hurt to get a jump on preparing your child for the test. Science: We are working on the solar system and will be learning the moon phases this week. Reading: We are finishing up our story called Bats Love the Night. I will have the children bring home their books today. We will start testing over the story this Thursday and Friday. Math: This week we will be reviewing for our test on Wednesday. We are finishing up chapter 3 over subtraction within 1000. The children will be asked to round to the nearest tens hundreds, use front end estimation, and to do partial differences and show each step. Since the test is a little long, I will be breaking it up and having them take it two days. Have a great week! |
