Dear Parent(s),
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!  Can't believe we are now in the third quarter!  This coming week is a full week.  Coming late next week is our next project in social studies.  With Black History Month coming up the third graders will be required to do a project for this.  More details will be sent home with your child.  The following are the topics we will be covering this coming week.

Religion:  Since this Sunday is the Feast of the Epiphany we have a little activity about this special day.  We will also be learning about the four marks of our faith.  One, Holy Catholic, and Apostolic.

Math:  We will be representing division by sharing, and by repeat subtraction.  Please parents I can't stressed the importance of reviewing your child's math facts with them on a regular bases.  We will be having a math test on Friday  this coming week.  We have spent both Thursday and today( Friday) reviewing what we covered before the break.  Please take time to go over what we have covered as well with your child.

Spelling:  The children have had their new words in their planners before the break.  These words follow the long and short vowel O.

Reading:  The story that we are reading is the same that we started before the break.  The Kamishibai Man.  The vocabulary words again are: familiar, applause, vacant, rickety, blurry, blasted, jerky, and rude.  The skills this week are abstract, and concrete nouns.  We are also doing more work with the diphthong ow, ou .  We will start taking the test at the end  of the week with this story.  The children have really seemed to enjoy this story.

Social Studies: We will be finishing up our solar systems this week.

English:  The skills this week we are covering are too, two and to.  We are also doing more work with our adjectives.  The children are getting close to finishing this chapter over adjective, and adverbs.  We will be having a test in the next two weeks.  I have asked the children to start bringing home their books to start reviewing.

Have a great weekend!
