Dear Parent(s),
Another week has flown by, so hard to believe we are at the end of October.  Thanks to Mrs,. Kleinmann and all parents who are busy preparing for our classes first party of the year on Wednesday afternoon. This past week the trunk or treat papers went home as well as their class composites. They are looked adorable.  Thank you Pam Huff for another year of wonderful pictures. This week your children do not have school on Thursday and Friday.  Please sure to check your child's Friday Folders.  Their First Quarter Report Cards went home today.  Below are  the topics we will be covering this very short week of school.

Religion 2: Some of the vocabulary words we will be learning as we approach our First Reconciliation is Examination of Conscience, Absolution, and Penance. We will be talking about things we can thinks about when we are examine our conscience.

Religion 3: This week we will be taking about how the church begins on Pentecost.  We will talk about what Christians are and how we can live our lives to be more like Christ. We will also be discussing the importance of All Saints Day.

Math: We will be beginning a new chapter this week working with estimating using subtraction.  The same skills they learned in our last chapter will now be applied to our new chapter. We will be rounding by tens, hundreds, and doing front end estimating this week.

Spelling: This weeks words follow the long i sound when using i, ie, and igh.  The words these next two weeks are: night, bright, find, light, wild, high, blind, fight, sight, kind, sign, knight, mild, right, sigh.

Reading:  We have just begun the story Roberto Clemente.  Thank you to Sophie Cavlovich for bringing in an autograph picture of this famous baseball player to share with the class this week. This week we will be working with literal and non literal meanings. We will also be reviewing plural nouns using s and es.

English:  We will be preparing for our upcoming English test over chapter 2.  I thought we night be ready by Wednesday, but with all the excitement with Halloween and parties, I feel it might be best if we push it to the following Tuesday when they return from their long weekend.  I will encourage them to bring their books home, so that you can also help them prepare as well.

Science: We are finishing up our unit on the bones.  The children have shared their song with Dr. Gilligan, and the first and second grade classes.

Have a wonderful weekend!
